90 min sleep solution for babies
|The 90 min sleep solution is the best piece of info I’ve learned on baby sleep. It’s helped me and my son get through the first four months with soooo much less crying and questioning of everything.
There are many sleep solutions out there and hard to choose which one is right for you. I was so interested in the sleep aspect of infant care, I read almost all of the top books. What worked for us was mainly this one and the Baby Wise book by a Dr right in my neighborhood. I’d say he probably didn’t know it but Dr Ezzo’s sleep schedule is nearly what the 90 min sleep solution would look for day naps while a baby is small.
I noticed our son would often get fussy and want to sleep about 90 min after he’d woken since we were keeping track of his sleeping/eating as of week 2. So, when I found this book, I was curious as to the theory around his sleep habits.
Turns out babies have a strong 90 min sleep cycle (we have it too, just a lot less strong). So, for much of the last four months, he’s down for a nap 90 min after waking up. Might seem like a lot, but he ALWAYS gets fussy around the 80-90 min mark, so he sleeps quickly after being put down and will sleep for 45 min-3 hrs at a time.
This allows for the time he is awake to be alert and happy for him, and for me
I believe the solutions from Baby Wise and this book helped us allow him to learn to sleep 11-12 hours at a stretch at night by week 10. Sleep is a fairly complex mix of things, so if you’d like support, I’d be happy to check into what your baby needs as a unique being, then help you apply a practical mix of sleep solutions. Blessings on your parenting journey!
